Why Does Gig.tn Take a 10% Commission from Freelancers?

Updated over 2 months ago

Breaking Down the Real Cost of Running a Secure Freelance Platform

Let’s be transparent:
Yes, Gig.tn takes a 10% commission from freelancers on every completed order. And yes — there’s a 5% fee for buyers as well.

But here’s the real question:

What do you actually get for that 10%?

This article breaks it down — not just the what, but the why. Because at Gig.tn, we believe in fairness, clarity, and building a system that works for everyone.

🔐 You're Not Just Paying a Fee — You're Paying for Protection

Every time a freelancer delivers work on Gig.tn, a lot happens behind the scenes to make sure you get paid safely and fairly.

That 10% covers:

1. Escrow & Payment Protection

We don’t just move money — we secure it in escrow.
That means:

  • You’re guaranteed that the client has already paid

  • The client is protected if you don't deliver

  • You both get a fair resolution if there's a dispute

Other platforms take 20% (or more) for this — and still hold your money for weeks. At Gig.tn, we only release payments after successful delivery, then let you withdraw when your balance reaches 150 DNT.

2. Manual Dispute Resolution — Not Robots

When something goes wrong, a real human reads your case.

  • Every dispute is investigated fairly

  • You get the chance to share your side

  • We resolve conflicts with both the buyer’s and freelancer’s effort in mind

This level of support takes time, labor, and trained staff. And it ensures that your work — and your reputation — are protected.

3. Fraud & Scam Prevention Systems

That 10% also helps cover our fraud detection tools — including:

  • KYC identity verification

  • Duplicate account detection

  • Off-platform payment filtering

  • IP pattern tracking for fake buyers/sellers

These systems actively prevent scammers from stealing your work or money. If someone tries to cheat the system — we’ll catch them. Fast.

4. Product Development & Local Payment Solutions

We constantly improve Gig.tn by building features like:

  • Gig add-ons to increase your earnings

  • New tools like saved messages, favorites, notifications

  • More withdrawal options: Konnect, bank transfers, checks, and more coming

You’re not just paying for the current platform — you’re funding the next version of it.

🎯 How Much Do You Actually Earn?

When you price your gig at 100 DNT, here’s how it breaks down:

  • You receive 90 DNT (Gig.tn takes 10 DNT)

  • The buyer pays 105 DNT (5 DNT buyer fee)

  • Once you reach 150 DNT, you can withdraw via:

    • Konnect (free)

    • Bank Transfer (10 DNT fee)

    • Check (free for payouts over 1000 DNT)

You get clarity upfront. No hidden fees. No confusing fine print.

✅ Fair, Transparent, Sustainable

Gig.tn doesn’t charge more than it should — and we don’t believe in cutting corners.
That 10% keeps the lights on, the fraud out, and the work protected.

You're not just paying to use a website. You're investing in a secure, professional freelancing ecosystem — built for Tunisians, by Tunisians.
